Rigsis at the “Future of Geothermal in Indonesia”

Project InnerSpace, together with its local publication partner Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), recently launched the “Future of Geothermal in Indonesia” report in Jakarta this December 2025. This report is a comprehensive study outlining how Indonesia, with its vast conventional resources and strong domestic expertise, can accelerate geothermal growth into next-generation systems, industrial heat applications, and district cooling. It provides invaluable insights into Indonesia’s geothermal landscape and actionable pathways to unlock its next phase of development

Rigsis, represented by our CEO, Farhan Muhammad was invited as a panel speaker for the session “Accelerating Geothermal for Direct-Use Utilization in Indonesia.” On the panel were also Filda C. Yusgiantoro (Chairperson of Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center) and Fifi Roesmawi (VP Business Development of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, which also shares some insights and commitment in advancing the direct use of geothermal.

During the discussion, Farhan emphasized Rigsis’s experience in geothermal direct-use projects and emphasized these applications can deliver tangible benefits to local communities and help build social acceptance ahead of power-generation development. He also underscored the high transferability of skills from oil & gas professionals to geothermal, noting that although surface, drilling, and subsurface work differ between the two sectors, the right foundation through university programs and industry training can significantly speed up Indonesia’s geothermal progress.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation. There’s tremendous potential in geothermal direct-use and by collaborate together across industry, academia, and society, we can help make geothermal a strong pillar of Indonesia’s sustainable energy. Let’s make #geothermal rocks!
