Rigsis Involvement in KaDieu Patuha of Geo Dipa

KaDieu, short for Kampung Direct Use, is a pilot initiative by Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) that promotes sustainable geothermal development by utilizing direct use applications to benefit local communities. KaDieu is an initiative at Patuha geothermal area.

In its initial stage, the KaDieu pilot project consists three applications:

  • a geothermal-heated greenhouse cultivating strawberries, tomatoes, and grapes
  • a fish pond
  • a small-scale food dehydrator for processing local agricultural products.

These facilities serve as living labs, combining technology, education, and social innovation to support community-based geothermal applications, that will furthermore develop as a commercial scale. KaDieu is expected to serve as a model that drives the development of policies and regulations for direct use of geothermal energy at both regional and national levels. This aligns with the government’s direction, as the Directorate of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) is currently formulating regulations on direct use applications. This kind of initiative is also anticipated to enhance investment appeal in the geothermal sector by introducing business diversification opportunities that are more practical and community-oriented.

The project was soft-launched on 8 July 2025 and inaugurated by Vice Regent of Bandung, Ali Syakieb, alongside Geo Dipa’s Director of Operations & HSSE Rio Supradinata, GM of Patuha Unit Ruly Husnie Ridwan, and Sahat Simangunsong from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).

The event was enthusiastically attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including community representatives from three surrounding villages, the local authorities including the Bandung Regency Government, geothermal industry players, potential partners and buyers in the tea industry, representative from state-owned enterprise, academia, media and so on.

At Rigsis, we are proud to collaborate with and support Geo Dipa by providing process engineering studies to help design and optimize these systems. This partnership is part of our commitment to realizing geothermal direct use in Indonesia. We believe geothermal in Indonesia can go beyond the grid, and this is how we help to make that vision a reality.

Our support to realize geothermal direct use in Indonesia won’t stop here. We will continue to contribute our expertise, collaborate with partners to scale up geothermal direct use, align with government of Indonesia target to promote #sustainablegeothermal and #poweringpotential.
